Re"Newed" Furniture

Sleigh Bed

Sleigh Bed

I renewed this bed from a traditional cherry to a romantic French Country feel with an aged finish and a stencil in the panels.

Dining Table

Dining Table

This is an Ethan Allen table I have had for 10 years. The finish had gotten tired, so I updated it with my very own version of the Sharkfin finish!

Beehive dresser

Beehive dresser

This was my first piece that I did with the intention of selling or donating. It went to OMA for the "Festival of Trees" and the women whose name was drawn was thrilled! Of all the things that were raffled off this was the only thing she really wanted.

Mexican Hutch goes Country French

Mexican Hutch goes Country French

My neighbor contracted me to do this piece for her. It was originally "Golden Girls" painted white with pink accents. Ouch! The paint job was bad, too! I redid it in a lighter base color with a darker glaze. It really made the carved relief come to life!

Little old desk

Little old desk

This was the other piece that my neighbor had me re"new." It went in the same room with the hutch, so I wanted to make them coordinate, but not totally match. I reversed the colors and started with a darker base and aged with a lighter glaze. She is a librarian at an elementary school, so I thought the typeset "M." for her first initial was a nice way to personalize this piece.

Bombay Chest

Bombay Chest

This piece was covered in brass details and hardware. It also had a cheap piece of marble on it. Nothing that a little elbow grease, hand painting and finishing, some grass cloth, a stencil, and simple hardware couldn't update in a big way!

Treasure Chests

Treasure Chests

My friend was getting rid of these, and I thought they would be perfect for Pierce and Mikey, so all I did was order wood letters, spray paint them, add a couple of safety hinges, and the boy's love there new trunks!

Nautical Headboard

Nautical Headboard

I built two of these headboards with 2 by 6's, an outdoor light that I reconfigured to work on a switch, and did a driftwood style glaze for my boys' room.

Pierce Headboard

Pierce Headboard

This is the finished headboard that I bought wood letters and spray painted them bronze, and then mounted them with small nails.

I did the same thing here with Mikey's name.

Bird Server

I found this great piece and renewed it to have an oriental style. I wished I could have kept it, but alas, I have no space. I donated it to Orlando Museum of Art "Festival of Trees" to raffle off to raise money for the museum.

Teal Chest

Teal Chest

The client that hired me to do the headboard, had several pieces that were in lovely shape, just sort of out of date. We based the finish off bedding in her guest room. The whole room came together beautifully as you will see on the Designed Spaces page

Mourning Dove Headboard

Mourning Dove Headboard

My client hired me to paint this headboard. It was tough because it was in beautiful shape with a book matched mahogany veneer. I had to leave the purist aspect of myself out of the picture. Besides, it was too small in scale for the room and the dark wood only made it look more diminutive. We wanted to make it more girly and one of a kind. It became the art in the room!

Ivory Chest close-up

Ivory Chest close-up

This is the companion piece to the teal dresser, but we redid it to go in the bedroom with the mourning dove headboard.

Ivory nightstand

Ivory nightstand

This is the nightstand that went with the tall chest in the same finish and the mourning dove headboard. Imagine these pieces in golden oak, and you will see the transformation!

Ethan Allen Crib

Ethan Allen Crib

This was a crib that my boys called home for there first couple of years. It was originally ivory. I painted it as a gift for some friends of ours that were becoming grandparents for the first time! I have to say, all those slats would make me reconsider taking on another crib. It was very difficult to get a good finish.

Frog Foffee Table

Frog Foffee Table

A lady from OMA (Orlando Museum of Art) hired me to renew this little table for her sunroom. She painted the base coat, and I did the artwork to coordinate with the fabric samples she brought me that would go on her upholstery. Can you find the frog?

Bee Server

Bee Server

My other neighbor found this server, and we painted it a gray blue with a champagne metallic glaze and put a giant french bee on it. This was another one I wanted for myself!

Dragonfly Nightstand

Dragonfly Nightstand

This was one of a pair of nightstands my friend gave me. They were small, so I thought I could really individualize them. Silver paint with a magenta hang-up glaze.

Cherry Blossom Nightstand

Cherry Blossom Nightstand

This is the companion to the Dragonfly Nightstand. A fun metallic green with a magenta hang-up glaze and hand-painted, cherry blossoms.

This chest is painted in Benjamin Moore's Admiral Blue and the Turtle is painted in Modern Masters Metallic paints.

Drexel China Cabinet

Took this cabinet in a more Restoration Hardware direction with driftwood colored paint and glazes and lots of sanding!
